Early morning Chichen Itza Tour: Cenote and Tequila Tasting

2.Early morning Chichen Itza Tour: Cenote and Tequila Tasting

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 6,657 reviews · 12 hours (approx.) · from $26Best value

Leave Cancun or the Riviera Maya early for Chichen Itza, with a guide such as Rafa, Cesar, Martin, or Hugo. You’ll get about an hour of guided ruins and time to explore alone, then swim at Cenote Chichikan, eat a buffet lunch, taste tequila, and stop in Valladolid. The low fare excludes Chichen Itza admission and some cenote fees.

“Chichen Itza was the obvious draw for this tour - but really only represented about 20% of the day. The first stop at the Mayan gift shop was not on the itinerary and was an obvious sales grab…as was the Mayan calendar offering on the bus. More focus on the fascinating history of the Mayan people and Chichen Itza (versus sales of tourist trinkets) would be a significant improvement. But ok overall - just plan for a long day.”

Hotel pickup, life jackets, conservation fees, and drop-off are included. Expect a lively activity center, bumpy transport, and possible extra charges for food, photos, and drinks.

“From the very beginning this was a great experience. Our driver was timely, friendly and informative. The guides at the cenotes were fun and made an effort to make sure all in our group understood exactly what they were telling us about the history of the cenotes and the things we were experiencing in two languages. I was sad to see how poorly other guests were tipping.”

Hotel pickup, air-conditioned transport, vegetarian choices, and English guidance are available.

“We had an awesome experience on this taco tour with Gib and Alex! Every restaurant we visited was authentic, and the food came out quickly. Gib was great at setting expectations before each stop, especially when it came to spice levels, which we really appreciated. Beyond the food, the conversations made the tour even better. We learned a lot about Mexican history, cuisine, and local culture, and it never felt rushed or scripted. By the end of the tour, we were completely stuffed. The churros at Parque de las Palapas were a perfect way to finish, and we loved having time to walk around the area afterward. Highly recommend this…”
